Inflammation and Heart Disease

Written by lsmithers

For the past 7 months, I’ve been on an amazing journey that sadly left little time for this wonderful blog.  My post of last September said I’m off to start another blog, Inflammation Awareness Now omitting what else was going on–a new book. I spent those months writing, The Great Cholesterol Lie, with thoracic surgeon, Dr. Dwight Lundell.

Dr. Lundell wrote and published a previous ground-breaking book, The Cure For Heart Disease, about inflammation and heart disease.  The Great Cholesterol Lie is an adaption in a different format that expands upon the history and tragedy of the cholesterol theory of heart disease.

It seemed to me before we could sink our teeth into the very known scientific fact that inflammation causes heart disease, we had a rather large problem.

The cholesterol theory of heart disease was steadfastly entrenched in our belief system by medical communities, marketing arms of pharmaceutical companies, nutritionists closely following recommendations of the Food Pyramid and food manufacturers who created no fat, low fat foods to fall in line with that theory.

For 48 years, we’ve bought into the cholesterol theory so thoroughly, we changed how we ate and foods we purchased while heart disease soared in response with statins dispensed by the trillions–with just as many dollars in profit.

There is a reasonable question we should all ask.  If the cholesterol theory of heart disease was an accurate one, why has heart disease become an epidemic, the number one taker of human life even though we’ve eliminated saturated fat, consumed low fat and no fat foods and statins by the bucket?

It is time we divested ourselves from this senseless theory to take a very close look at inflammation and how Omega-3 plays a vital role in curing heart disease.

  1. Healthy Foods Says:

The term heart disease is a very broad term. Problems can arise within the heart muscle, arteries supplying blood to the heart muscle, or the valves within the heart that pump blood in the correct direction. Understanding the differences between each disease of the heart can help with the confusing applications of the term heart disease.

Typical food of Eskimos is fat rich and it hardly ever includes vegetables or fruit. It is very amazing, that they do not suffer from heart diseases.

Omega-3 oils are called “essential” fatty acids because good health requires that they be in your diet. The problem is that virtually all of us don’t get enough omega-3s in the food we eat. Your body uses omega-3 oils to support healthy tear production that improves eye comfort by keeping the eyes moisturized.* TheraTears Nutrition provides all of the omega-3s your eyes need, so as you continue to take it, your eyes will continue to feel their best.

Canned tuna boasts of Omega 3, and also a lot of other fish that are good for the heart.

The great cholesterol lie is one scientific, but I’d say unintented, mishap. I hope we do watch for(and read the fineprints) the foods that we are eating, and not just gobbling food down our throats
